Below is what happens when “merge” is selected while installing BERNINA V9.
  1. The defaults file from the old installation gets merged with the one from the new installation and placed into the corresponding directory in ProgramData\BERNINA.
    The defaults file contains any default changes done in windows such as "Options", "Background & Display colors", etc. The docker and toolbar layout are version specific and do not get merged.
  2. User motifs from the old installation are copied into the corresponding directory in ProgramData\BERNINA.
    User Motifs are created using the "Create pattern" or "Create Border" features. Stamps are also merged.
  3. Thread charts from the old installation that don't have a matching pair in the new installation or have a later modification date are copied into the corresponding directory in ProgramData.
  4. Templates from the old installation are copied into the corresponding directory in ProgramData\BERNINA.
  5. User auto fabric (userdefined.autost) from the old installation are copied into the corresponding directory in ProgramData\BERNINA.
  6. User hoops file (USRHOOPS.DSC) from the old installation is copied into the corresponding directory in ProgramData\BERNINA.
  7. Fabric user files (*.flb) from Program Files (x86)\Common files\Wilcom\Fabrics are copied to ProgramData\BERNINA\BERNINA Embroidery\fabric
  8. Fabric user files (*.Blb) from Program Files (x86)\Common files\Wilcom\Blocks are copied to ProgramData\BERNINA\BERNINA Embroidery\Blocks
